TEDDY DAY
It’s an adage “Just like a teddy bear, true love is soft, comforting, and always there for you.”
Most of us think of something soft and cuddly when we need comfort. It’s no wonder teddy bears have become the perfect symbols of love! They are like a warm hug in stuffed animal form: always there to comfort you after a rough day or make you smile when you are feeling down.
Think about it, a teddy bear is basically love in physical form. It’s soft, squeezable, and never judges you (plus, it’s way more huggable than a box of chocolates!). That’s probably why February 10th became Teddy Day during Valentine’s Week. It’s that special day when people exchange these adorable bundles of fluff with their loved ones, saying “Hey, I want to be your source of comfort, just like this teddy bear!”
Isn’t it wonderful how a stuffed animal can speak volumes? You feel happy, sad, or need someone to snuggle with when you’re watching a movie. It’s always there for you, much like true love is always there, only this one does not require any batteries, only pure, unconditional companionship.
Ever wonder why we refer to these adorable soft toys as “teddy” bears? So, today I’m sitting on a soft pillow, getting a comfortable seat. I am now going to give you an amusing story which takes us to an adventure on fluffiness
The Teddy Story
You know President Theodore Roosevelt, right? Everyone called him “Teddy” for short. So, one day in 1902, he went on a bear hunt in Mississippi. After searching for days, poor Teddy couldn’t find a single bear to hunt.
His guides felt bad for him and found a baby bear. They tied it to a tree and said, “Hey Mr. President, here’s your bear to shoot.” But Teddy took one look at that helpless bear and said, “No way! That’s not fair at all.” He refused to shoot it because he thought it wasn’t right to hunt an animal that couldn’t defend itself.
A newspaper artist heard about this and drew a funny cartoon about it. He showed Teddy saying no to shooting the cute little bear. When a couple who owned a candy shop in Brooklyn saw this cartoon, they had a brilliant idea.
The wife, Rose, made a cute stuffed bear and asked Teddy if they could call it “Teddy’s Bear.” He said yes, and guess what? Everyone loved it. People couldn’t get enough of these cuddly bears.
That’s why even today, over 100 years later, we call them teddy bears, all because President Teddy Roosevelt was kind to a little bear in the woods. Pretty amazing how one kind act turned into something that makes millions of people.
Now every time you hug a teddy bear, you know exactly why it’s called that.
Love In Fluff
A teddy bear is like sending a part of your love in a cuddly form. When your special someone is having a rough day, they can hug that teddy and remember you care. It’s like saying “Hey, I want to be there for you always, and this little guy is going to give you hugs when I can’t!”
The best part about Teddy Day is how it adds a touch of childhood innocence to romantic love. Remember how safe and happy you felt hugging your favorite teddy as a kid? That’s the same warm, fuzzy feeling we want to share with someone special. It’s not just about romance – people give teddies to friends, family, and anyone they want to comfort or make smile.
